İlayda's research focuses on wildlife diseases, wildlife population health and conservation, public health, veterinary microbiology, and epidemiology.

Arzu İlayda Sümer is pursuing her doctorate in Microbiology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kırıkkale University. Her focus is on wildlife microbiology and epidemiology, and her research is in this field.


Arzu İlayda Sümer completed her primary and secondary education in Ankara. After graduating from Aktif College Science High School, she completed her undergraduate studies at Kırıkkale University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Wildlife Health at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kırıkkale University. She has been working as a volunteer veterinarian at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Unit of Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine since 2019; where she participates in the examination, treatment, surgery, other necessary interventions, and rehabilitation processes of wild animals. She also participates in the process of returning rehabilitated mammals, birds, and reptiles to their natural habitat. Since July 2023, she has been working at the Agrigenomics Hub (AgriGx) Animal and Plant Genomics Research Innovation Center and Evolutionary Genetics Laboratory.
