The project in Turkey is managed by Dr. Alper Ertürk, a faculty member at Kastamonu University, and is carried out with the contributions of Assoc. Dr. Anıl Soyumert from Kastamonu University, Prof. Dr. Emre Keskin from Ankara University's Evolutionary Genetics Laboratory, and the eGL team. The work in Slovakia continues under the leadership of Dr. Peter Kaňuch.

The methods to be applied in the project are planned on 5 different bases: sample collection, individual identification and genetic diversity of populations, foraging behavior, field endocrinology, and parasite load determination. Field samples will mostly be collected in the form of feces or hair, and these samples will be used to determine both the feeding preferences and genetic structure of the brown bear.
