Yağmur's research focuses on biodiversity and environmental sampling in cave ecosystems, as well as molecular ecology.

Yağmur Acer completed her primary and secondary education in Denizli. After graduating from Erbakır Science High School, she began her undergraduate studies in Biology at the Middle East Technical University. During her undergraduate studies, she was active in various organizations such as the Aykut Kence Evolution Conference and the Bird Ecology School. Currently, she continues her work as a board member of the Cave Research Association. She is also a board member of the Biodiversity Research Association and works on nature conservation projects.

Yağmur Acer works as a researcher at the Evolutionary Genetics Laboratory and the Agrigenomics Hub (AgriGx) Animal and Plant Genomics Research Innovation Center.

Yağmur Acer is pursuing her undergraduate studies at the Middle East Technical University. She has completed a TÜBİTAK project (Project No. 2209) that investigated the effects of urbanization on seagull microbiota using eDNA-metabarcoding methods.
