Kaan conducts research in the fields of insect ecology and systematics.
Kaan Yılmaz completed his high school education in Balıkesir. He received his bachelor's degree from Ege University, Department of Biology, specializing in Zoology, and his master's degree from Ordu University, Institute of Science.
Kaan Yılmaz completed his master's degree at Ordu University, Institute of Science, with a thesis titled "Investigation of the effect of sexual cannibalism on the sex ratio in a natural population of praying mantises." He is pursuing his doctoral studies at Ankara University, Institute of Biotechnology, in the Evolutionary Genetics Laboratory, conducting research on the taxonomy and ecology of butterflies and praying mantises. Kaan Yılmaz is a member of the 10kLepGenomes research group.
Kaan Yılmaz continues to work as a butterfly expert on various biodiversity projects in collaboration with public and private institutions.
