Ayça works in the fields of genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, and basic biotechnology.
Ayça Yeşilbağ completed her primary and secondary education in İzmir. After graduating from Fatma Saygın Anatolian High School, she began her undergraduate studies in Biology at Ankara University. During her undergraduate studies, she went to Greece through the Erasmus+ program and completed a summer internship in a microbiology laboratory of a company. In her final year of undergraduate studies, she participated in a project investigating seed heteromorphism in Atriplex sagittata ; she comparatively evaluated the germination responses and dormancy levels of seed morphs depending on photoperiod conditions. She is currently pursuing her master's degree at the Ankara University Biotechnology Institute.
Thesis Study: De novo analysis of the whole genome of bonito (Sarda sarda ) using high-throughput sequencing.
This thesis aims to understand the genetic structure, environmental adaptations, and biological functions of the bonito ( Sarda sarda ) species by generating the first comprehensive whole genome sequence of the species using high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics methods. The obtained genome data aims to provide a reference dataset in the fields of population genetics, evolutionary relationships, and conservation biology.
